A York University Theoretical Physics graduate, Martin began his City career in Stockbroking and Stockjobbing, spending time on the old ‘Market’ floor, before moving into Investment Banking as a sell-side and corporate analyst covering the engineering and capital goods industries. He joined Citigate Dewe Rogerson some 20 years ago and is now responsible for developing CDR’s international Natural Resources practice covering Oil & Gas Upstream and Engineering Services and Mining.
Key IPO projects have included London listings for Kazakhstan’s onshore oil & gas operator KazMunaiGas EP and gold miner KazakhGold; PRC iron ore operator, real estate owner & developer and investor in cement manufacture, Prosperity Minerals; Dubai-based oil & gas engineering services company Lamprell and, most recently, Falkland’s oil explorer Argos Resources.
M&A advisory has included Tullow Oil’s Uganda pre-emption and $2.9bn farm down, its acquisition of Jo'burg listed Energy Africa and ASX / LSE dual listed Hardman Resources; AngloGold’s merger with Ashanti Goldfields; both parties in the agreed acquisition by Dana Gas of TSX / AIM dual listed Centurion Energy and most recently, the acquisition of a majority interest in Regal Petroleum by Ukraine-based Energees.
Current retained clients include Argos Resources, Circle Oil, Dragon Oil, PetroNeft Resources, Prosperity Minerals, Regal Petroleum and Tullow Oil.
